For over 65 years, Magalies Citrus has evolved alongside South Africa’s citrus industry. What began as a grower-focused operation has grown into a leading citrus processing business, driven by innovation, long-term partnerships, and a commitment to quality at every stage of production.

Our Journey Through the Years

1959 – Where It All Began

Magalies Citrus was founded in 1959 as Magaliesberg Citrus Co-operative Ltd, operating as a pack house for fresh citrus fruit. From the beginning, the business focused on supporting local growers and delivering quality produce to market.

1965 – A Strategic Shift

In the mid-1960s, declining fresh fruit prices led Magalies to expand into citrus processing. This strategic decision marked the start of fruit juice concentrate manufacturing and laid the foundation for long-term growth and sustainability.

2005 – A New Chapter

Registered as a private company in 2005, Magalies Citrus evolved into a grower-supported processing business. Today, the company works with 106 shareholder growers, representing a wide range of citrus farming expertise.

Today – Innovation at Scale

Magalies Citrus processes approximately 70 000 tonnes of citrus fruit annually, across 11 citrus varieties. These operations contribute to the production of around 122 million litres of ready-to-drink fruit juice for the domestic market each year.

The business is supported by 14 distribution centres servicing South Africa and neighbouring countries, and a team of 200+ skilled professionals across various departments.
