Magalies recently sponsored an exciting night series cricket tournament for under 12 and 13 boys from schools in the local community. The series was well organised and presented in conjunction with Thornhill Primary school in Brits, and stretched over three Friday evenings during the month of September. A new format was introduced to the series, which was a first for all involved.
Four local primary schools partook in the tournament:
The uniqueness and success of this event was due to the fact that the boys did not compete for their school teams, but were divided into different mixed teams bearing the following IPL names:
This gave the boys the opportunity to make new friends while enjoying a game of cricket under the spotlights. Parents and spectators were treated to high quality cricket while enjoying a braai.
Each boy received an embroided shirt bearing the team and his own name as well as a branded cap. Magalies’ dedicated personnel ensured the boys did not go hungry providing well prepared meals and “bottomless” Magalies fruit juice to drink. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the boys!
Fruit juice concentrate samples were also handed out to parents and spectators, contributing to the festive atmosphere. On the final night’s prize giving each of the boys received a prize, making them all winners.
This series gave all of the boys the chance to enjoy the game of cricket in a relaxed and festive environment.
Magalies would like to thank the teachers of Thornhill Primary as well as the participants and their parents for contributing to the huge success of this series.
See you all again in 2017!
